Guitar World popped by the Charvel booth during the 2016 NAMM Show, where they checked out the new for 2016 Pro-Mod Series.
Watch the clip below as Charvel’s Peter Wichers explains some of the new features behind this year’s axes …
Paul Riario of Guitar World recently pulled out a Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH to demo the Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive pedal.
“The variety of overdrive and distortion pedals on the market these days is truly staggering,” Riario noted. “The vast majority is basically good at one or two applications, such as clean boost, blues overdrive, hard rock rhythm crunch, or metal distortion, but pedals that can do all of this (and do it very well) are very rare indeed.”
How did the pedal fare? And how did that So-Cal sound when run through it? Find out in the video after the jump.
The guitar, which comes in Specific Blue and Slime Green for 2015, was named No. 4 on Guitar World‘s list of the Best of NAMM 2015.

Paul Riario of Guitar World recently ran through one of the Charvel Jake E Lee signature model guitars and noted that it was one of his favorite new releases of 2014.
The axe is based on the distinctive white “Charvel-ized” instrument the former Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands guitarist has played ever since he bought it new back in 1975.
“If you’ve been a fan of Jake E Lee, then this part guitar is a no-brainer,” said Riario. “But if you just like a no-nonsense guitar that is performance enhanced, this is the model to check out. It’s certainly one of my faves.”

Paul Riario of Guitar World recently issued a demo of the new Ninebuzz Modal Buddy app for the iPhone and iPod touch, and he used a familiar guitar to put it through the paces.

Representatives from Guitar World were on-hand at the 2014 Charvel Showcase at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif., where they got a close look at the new Guthrie Govan and Jake E Lee signature guitars.
Charvel’s own Mike McGregor points out all the key features of each model in the videos below.
Govan also touched on his history with the guitar, why he picked it up and who has influenced him over the years.
“I had this wide-eyed fascination with all of music when I was three years old and learning to play my first Elvis Presley songs on guitar,” he told the magazine. “And something that I figured out a long time ago is that music is all around you. You don’t just have to learn guitar solos from your favorite records; you can learn jingles from the TV; you can learn the music that the ice cream man is playing. I’ve always tried to stay open to all the noises I hear around me.”
