Digital Tour Bus Goes Backstage With Angel Vivaldi

Posted on March 20th, 2019 by Sara Norton

Digital Tour Bus caught up with Angel Vivaldi on a stop during his Guitar Collective 2018 tour for a look at his rig, which of course included his Charvel Angel Vivaldi Signature DK24-7 Nova.

“This guitar is that old school and new school type of hybrid,” said Vivaldi.

The Nova boasts a slew of premium features including a reverse 7-string Fender Strat headstock tilted back for improved string tension at the nut, a recessed heel and scooped lower horn for easy upper fret access and a Gotoh® custom 7-string 510 tremolo bridge.

“[The Nova] is great for shred!” added Vivaldi.

Gus G. Joins Steel Panther Onstage for ‘Crazy Train’

Known for constant antics and humor, Steel Panther’s Satchel also boasted about his impersonation skills during the final show of their European tour. With Greek guitar phenom Gus G. proving support, Satchel informed the crowd that he was about to pull off a wardrobe change and then do “an impersonation of Gus G. doing an impersonation of Randy Rhoads that is going to blow your f***ing minds.”

A few beats later and armed with his signature Charvel Pro-Mod DK, “Satchel” returned to the stage as “Gus G.” and gave a stellar performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” which only makes sense given the virtuoso spent nearly a decade as Osbourne’s guitarist.

Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSH 2PT CM Snags ‘Guitar World’ Platinum Award

Posted on March 5th, 2019 by Sara Norton

A huge hit since its summer 2018 release, the Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSH 2PT CM snagged a Guitar World “Platinum Award” in the magazine’s April issue.

The Paul Riario review and article, entitled “Crushin’ It”, raves how this Satin Orange Crush guitar “packs so much tonal firepower and high-performance features, it plays like an instrument built for virtuosos. Even though you don’t need to be one, it’ll make you feel it won’t take long to achieve.”

While Riario praised several of the axe’s features, it was the baked neck and custom Seymour Duncan pickups that took the cake.

“The standout feature of the Pro-Mod DK24 is its caramelized ‘speed’ neck,” he wrote. “It looks killer, and the torrefaction adds stability with a raw wood feel, plus a lively pop in tone.”

Riario also noted the versatility of the custom Seymour Duncan pickups in an HSH configuration.

“The trio of Seymour Duncan pickups along with its unique wiring configuration offers up a wealth of improved vintage and modern tones,” wrote Riario. “The blade selector does not have the typical five-way wiring scheme, but instead splits certain coils while disengaging others to give you a better-sounding range of single-coil sparkle, mid-range clarity and full-throttle humbucking slide.”

All in all, Riario proclaims that this DK24 2PT “might just be the ultimate Charvel I’ve ever come across, with a price that defies all that it offers.”

Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Angus Clark Demos DK24 HH FR M QM

Posted on March 1st, 2019 by Sara Norton

Rock of Ages and Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist Angus Clark took the Pro-Mod DK24 HH FR M QM for a spin in a recent YouTube demo.

“This is a Charvel—it’s synonymous with that kind of ’80s ‘lead machine,’” said Clark. “You know you can count on this guitar to do that; I was just impressed that I could do so much more with it.”

Clark ran through each of the 5-pickup positions of the Seymour Duncan® Full Shred SH-10B neck Seymour Duncan SH2N bridge pickups, providing a stellar showcase of the axe’s versatility — from snappy pop and country riffs to jazz solos or gritty leads.

“It’s really hard to get everything you want exactly the way you want it, but this guitar is succeeding,” pointed out Clark.
