Premier Guitar Checks Out Charvel Desolation Skatecaster SK-1 ST

Posted on November 30th, 2011 by Pauline France

Premier Guitar’s Jordan Wagner got his hands on the Charvel Desolation Skatecaster SK-1 ST pictured above, and gives it raving reviews.

According to Wagner, the Skatecaster SK-1 ST is responsive and capable of taking whatever comes its way.

“The guitar screamed during structured leads and growled with every palm-muted gallop that I threw its way,” Wagner says.

And for additional reassurance,  just listen to Wagner testing out the heavy axe here.

Wagner’s final verdict says that the Skatecaster “offers up some very unique flavors,” with finish work that’s “outstanding.”

Death By Stereo’s J.P. Gericke Joins Charvel

Posted on November 22nd, 2011 by MDuffy

J.P. Gericke of Death By Stereo and Austrian Death Machine is joining the Charvel family.

And Gericke seems pretty fired up.

The guitarist added a photo of himself with a Charvel piece in his Twitter avatar, tweeting, “Got my @CharvelGuitars Desolation DS-1 ST in flat black yesterday. This guitar is owning my life! Stoked!” last week.

Gericke and Death By Stereo are scheduled to get back in the studio soon and will embark on an extensive European tour with Agnostic Front and Naysayer in 2012.

But before a new album drops, the band released a rough mix of the new song “WTF IS GOING ON AROUND HERE?” via their official Facebook page.

Music Radar Reviews the Charvel Desolation Skatecaster SK-1 FR

Posted on November 8th, 2011 by Pauline France

Music Radar reviewed a Charvel Desolation Skatecaster SK-1 FR and is encouraging metal players to check one out.

According to the review, the SK-1′s mahogany body mates well with its pickups, resulting in an excellent tone.

“The Skatecaster’s sheer mass of mahogany helps round off any inherent abrasion from its EMG humbuckers,” said Music Radar. “And we’d suggest it gives a great Kirk Hammett-style scorching lead tone.”

The review ends by giving a little background on the model and inviting metal-heads to sample the model.

“The Desolation series is far removed from the hot-rodded custom S-types for which Charvel is loved historically,” concludes Music Radar. “But we concede that most metal teenagers won’t care too much about that. Try one.”
