Mr. Jumbo’s (real name Giedrius Balciunas) lifetime is devoted for two of his vocations: fine arts and music. This 25 year old artist has earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees of graphic design; however, rock music is his passion No.1.
Being a gifted composer, guitarist and vocalist Mr. Jumbo gained his first success with the band Linfeng. This nu-metal act (lived in 2002-2005) shook national underground yet mainstream scenes, toured to European countries, attended the European Music Meeting festival in Austria, shared scene with Grave, Benediction, Emil Bulls and others.
Mr. Jumbo was noticed by other musicians and various Lithuanian recognized bands, which invited him to cooperate. In 2006 Mr. Jumbo also started his solo career.
A few highlights to name:
• 2005-2008 at Lithuania's largest international rock festival Rock Night warm-up for: The69eyes, Paradise Lost, Korpiklaani, Deathstars, Volbeat, John Lawton (Uriah Heep).
• 2006 production endorsement offers from HAMER Guitars USA and TC Electronics.
• 2007 In Best Lithuanian guitarist competition "Gitaru Selsmas" Jumbo takes the first place and grand prize from Gibson's representative - an electric guitar.
• 2009 Mr. BIG and Poison ex-guitarist Richie Kotzen's concert warm-up in Lithuania.
In 2008 Jumbo was invited to participate in Lithuanian reality show "Music Academy" on national television that was on-air almost three months. Carrying out different music styles and having duets with such global disco stars like Otawan made all the press flash about "a metalhead, who can flush all that cheesy pop music".
By today Mr. Jumbo has played over 500 concerts, recorded and released over 20 albums, and compilation discs. These figures show Jumbo’s sincere dedication towards the rock music and years of experience bending older professional musicians.
Since 2009 Mr.Jumbo and other three well-known musicians in his country started a rock band called “Bon Jeans” as Bon Jovi and Def Leppard tribute. Later began to create their own stuff. Line up: Ramunas Grybauskas (vox/bass), Mr.Jumbo (guitar/back vox), Dalius Mintauckis (keys/back vox), Robertas Dusevicius (drums).
